Tuesday, 18th December

Two massively busy days. Everyone is obviously trying to complete everything needed up until New Year, so that they don't need to come to work next week. Of course, operational staff don't get the option - we'll be there regardless.

Wednesday, 19th December

Overtime tonight - a night shift. I wish there were more 10 and 12 shifts going as overtime, but no-one seems to be taking those kinds of shifts off.

Thursday, 20th December

Not much sleep after the overtime, so I've been nodding off at odd times today.

I've also decided that I'm going to experiment with running a Linux distro on the Acer. Rather than reformat and reinstall him, I'm downloading a copy of Knoppix, which is the original Live CD distro, Debian-based. If Knoppix can fire up everything on the machine, I'll know that I can consider making a permanent move. The final decision will lie with whether I can get Linux apps that will do everything I want to do.

Friday, 21st December

After the rush, things have calmed down. There's not much on the trolley to be done over the weekend, and I suspect that there'll not be much, if any, more submitted until probably the 27th at the earliest. So this will be a quiet Christmas, work-wise. Certainly the missing list for tomorrow is empty. Hopefully this will be the case until after Boxing Day, if not after New Year.

Knoppix finished downloading at about 11 a.m. today, which is good, but the mega-torrent of "Space 1999" has stalled. Although I can see a couple of seeds, they aren't sending to me.

And it's cold. I don't do cold - I prefer warm. Not hot, be it noted, just warm. Although hot is survivable, given shade and long, cold drinks - a beachside bar, perhaps.

Sunday, 23rd December

It has continued quiet at work. I've left about 6 small tapes to be processed by the other shift - and they'll have 3 days to do them. So no hard work there.

The mega-torrent has started up again, and if it continues as it is at present, I should be finished by midnight on New Year's Eve. Finished downloading, that is - I will continue to seed.

Christmas preparations continue. Tomorrow will see us collecting most of the Christmas meal goodies. I've got most of the presents that I'm giving - except Jane's, which will be a paid shopping trip. Paid by me, that is. That way, Jane gets what she wants, and I give it to her. It's also the safest way - no-one can complain after the fact.

It's warmed up a little - the car is no longer iced up when I leave work for home. And since it was the Solstice on Friday, the days will only get longer from here on.
